Courses offered and Fee structure
Madras University courses are offered with various levels of programmes including Undergraduate, Postgraduate, MBA, MCA, etc. These courses are covered in the duration of one year to five years. Diploma and certification courses are also included in the university’s curriculum, which are offered as Distance programme.

Undergraduate courses
Madras University offers UG courses like BA, BCA, BBA (Bachelor in Business Administration), BCom (Bachelor of Commerce), BCom (Hons.), BSc, BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) etc.
Under the Arts section, courses in Business Economics, Journalism, Sanskrit, Sociology, Performing Arts, Criminology and Police Administration, Tourism and Travel Management, Defence and Strategic Studies, Economics, etc are offered.
BSc and BCA courses include disciplines like Digital Publishing, Mathematics, Microbiology, Home Science, Chemistry, Visual Communication etc. Lateral entry courses are also available at the undergraduate level. In terms of fees, the BA course comes with a fee of Rs. 7,500 and B Nat course fee is Rs. 9,300. On the other hand, BSc course fee for different disciplines ranges between Rs. 9,000 and Rs. 1.50 lakhs.
BCA course fee is Rs. 1.13 lakhs and BSW course fee is Rs. 96,020. All these courses are offered in full-time options with a duration between three and four years. Students can apply for the different programme via online Madras University application.
Postgraduate courses
The university offers PG courses like MSc (Master of Science), MA, MCom (Master of Commerce), MBA (Master in Business Administration), MCA (Master of Computer Applications), MSW (Master of Computer Application) etc. MBA course is offered in subjects like Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Marketing, Finance etc.
MSc course is available in disciplines like Geology, Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Photonics, Inorganic Chemistry, Online Media, Geoinformatics, Zoology etc.

These courses are covered in a two-year duration. MSc course fee is Rs. 13,515. Another master level course, MA course fee is Rs. 5,290 for the first year, MCA course fee is Rs. 22,565 for one year and M Tech course fee is Rs. 27,040 for one year.
Admission Process
All the applicants in Madras University are admitted to a particular course on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying exam. These qualifying exams include TANCET MBA (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test), MAT, CAT (Common Entrance Exam), GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering), etc.
These exams include subjects or topics like quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, general awareness, etc. These exams are followed by a counselling round and a personal interview round. The selection of the candidates depends on the marks scored in these exams with the marks scored in the personal interview round.
- For admission in Bachelor level courses such as the B Tech course, state-level entrance exam’s score is considered.
- At the postgraduate level courses, like admission in MBA course, CAT score is considered.

Placements
Madras University offers various placement opportunities for the passed out students. The University Students Advisory Bureau (USAB) works for the benefit of the students. Under USAB, career guidance and counselling are provided to the students.
